The European Union has officially postponed the deadline for the submission of CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) certificates from January 1, 2026, to February 1, 2027. This extension allows companies more time to prepare for the formal implementation of CBAM regulations.

The European Union has announced an important update regarding the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Originally scheduled for January 1, 2026, the deadline for submitting CBAM certificates has now been extended to February 1, 2027.

This adjustment reflects the EU's efforts to provide companies with additional preparation time for full compliance with CBAM reporting and verification requirements. During the transitional period, companies must continue to submit quarterly CBAM reports but are not yet required to purchase or surrender CBAM certificates.

At Valtec, we have proactively engaged in CBAM compliance activities since 2024. We stay updated on EU CBAM developments and regulatory changes to ensure timely and accurate compliance for our operations and our customers. Companies exporting covered products to the EU should continue strengthening their carbon emission reporting systems and prepare for the upcoming regulatory demands.

We encourage all partners and clients to stay informed and work closely with us to meet CBAM requirements ahead of the 2027 deadline.
